One Month Mark!!!!!
Yooooo what's up everybody!!! Alright so I apologize but I am realizing I will definitely not have the time to write nice big elaborate emails every week so we are gonna shoot for every 2 weeks haha!!! It seriously is just so crazy how busy we are out here in Molalla OR. We pack our schedules every day to the brim and are putting in the work so I'm loving it!! I feel like this week we have really started to see some awesome results from the work. So here's some highlights from the past couple weeks!!!
• So we met with this guy named Jerry. Jerry is a super nice guy and we have been doing yardwork for him. So he left the church when he was 19 and has been inactive for about like 50 years. And he is a great guy but he has been doing a lot of soul searching and doesn't really feel ready to commit to read the BOM. But we had a really good chat with him about it so hopefully he starts opening up to us more! • So with the Spanish side of things it's been really picking up! We have 2 new Spanish investigators we have appointments with later in the week so fingers crossed that those meetings will go well!! Also we have been working closely with the stake presidency and the mission president with formulating a plan to revive the Spanish branch that was dissolved down in Molalla about 4 years ago. So we were talking to president about our plans hand stuff and he actually invited us to have dinner with him to talk more about it so that was awesome!!! He mentioned he has big plans for this area and wants to push the Spanish effort down here a lot more. Also BIG announcement and some BREAKING NEWS!! We are in a TRIO now!!! Elder Diaz has joined the squad and we are gonna tear it up down here!! So we have plans to hold a Spanish Sacrament meeting for the first time in like 4 years on the 1st of November!! So it has been a TONNN of work contacting people and getting the word out about it. And the pressure is REALLY on for this sacrament because if we dont get at least 40 people there then it's not good news... if that doesn't happen the stake will move forward with the plan to have strong member families in our stake attend meetings in a neighboring stake's branch. And we don't want that cuz then members here will have to drive super far and we might lose a lot of actives and less actives in the process. Buuuut yeaaaa I will keep y'all updated on the outcome of that whole operation haha! Also to help sort of get people back together we held a movie night for Spanish members!!! And it went really good!! We actually got approval to watch coco in Spanish and we had pan dulce and hot chocolate and a fairly good turnout so it was good!! • So on Sundays we hold a gospel principles class and this time this lady Cheryl June came who is a non member. And so backstory on her is that we did some service for her a couple weeks ago and then tried to ser up a time to come back and meet and she kinda just ghosted us after that. But it was so awesome to see her there!! And even better we handed her a BOM to read a verse out of during the class and as the class went on she just had her head down and she was just reading and reading and reading!!! And so at the end of the class as we were going to invite her to keep the book and read it she came up to us and asked if she could borrow it for the week!!! It was seriously like a home run it was awesome so we are going to be setting up a time to meet with her soon and I'm super excited!!! • We had a member lesson with this guy Jim Puffer and he is soooo cool! He has a 300 acre Christmas tree farm and so much cool stuff on his property!! He recently got these 2 like 1940s school buses at an auction cuz in his words he said, "ya never know when you might need 2 buses" Hahhah!! But yea then he took the buses through a trail in the woods with us and it felt like a Disneyland ride haha it's so cool!! And he is hosting a mutual where he is gonna make it like a haunted bus ride through the woods so its gonna be insaneeeee!! • Also BIGGEST news was I went through the temple!!!! It was such an amazing experience and the spirit was so strong! And my parents were able to come up to Portland to go through with me!! It was just an overall amazing day! Even thought it was hard to say another goodbye to my parents, I know I'm right where I need to be! I cant wait to continue to devote my efforts to this work! Here are some pics for y'all!
