Más Milagros (More Miracles)
Alright well it has been quite a while since I have written one of these but we have been soooo crazy busy out here in Gresham it has been insaneeeee. The work is always moving forward and it is so amazing to be a part of it!
MIRACLES In this past month or so I thought it would be cool to recount all of the many miracles we have seen in this work. It is so amazing to see that miracles are real and they still occur in this day we have faith and put in effort. *Brian One day we came to church and saw a father and his son there that we had never seen before. So we walked up and started talking and the dad was a very less active member but he and his son had recently started to attend again because he wanted Brian his son to be baptized! So we set up times to meet with him this week and he will probably be baptized this week! *Noe This most recent Sunday Noe was baptized! It has been such an amazing opportunity to serve and teach him he has been so humble and so willing to learn. As we said goodbye after the baptism he told us how much he appreciated all the work we do and even though it may be hard at times that it is worth it because we were able to help him change his life and find the gospel! *The work this past weekend In the past three days alone we found 3 new people to teach, set a date for 3 people to be baptized, had 4 investigators attend sacrament meeting, and had one baptism! Although it has been one of the craziest and busiest weekends of my life it has been so amazing and fulfilling to see so many people accepting the gospel of Jesus Christ. *Jennifer We have been working with Jennifer since I got to Gresham and she has had a long hard life up until this point. At the moment our main focus has been to help her give up smoking. For the past month or so she has been struggling to let go of this last little thing that is holding her back. However, as we have been continually reaching out to her and encouraging her she has begun to make the steps to quit. It has been a little over a week and she hasnt smoked once! Its amazing to see that through her faith in Christ and her desire to change she is being blessed with the strength and courage to quit! Crazy experiences Everyone knows the best mission stories are always the crazy experiences you have out and about haha. Heres a few that we have had this last transfer. Fight in the 7-11 parking lot So one evening we go to get some gas as one does and we see four guys near the entrance of the convenience store start to argue and push around. Then one of the dudes decided to take a swing at one of the guys... yea at that point it was basically over. Two of them just started brawling on one dude and then jumped in their car and left. I felt super bad for the guy and it's just crazy to see how violent people are now a days. Crazy dude One day we recieved a referral to go contact someone out in Portland. We were sort of suspicious because the name seemed like it was a white person and not a Latino but we decided to go of course. So we go down this really sketchy street with a bunch of trash and homeless camps and then we finally find the house way towards the back. The house is just completely covered in trash and random broken down cars and tires and all that kind of stuff. Then we see a super creepy dude walk from out of the back of the house so we asked if he knew the guy we were looking for. With a really creepy smile on his face he told us the guy was there and that we should come back and talk. At this point I was kinda creeped but I didn't feel like we should leave just yet so we talked to the guy we were looking for and he was clearly not interested. So then we proceeded to talk with the creepy smile dude and he went on a nice long rant about how we are possibly in the matrix and how the gov is corrupt and all that jazz. He ended his speech by saying, "I'm not saying I haven't killed anyone and in not saying it isn't an option..." he then cursed at us and told us to leave so we went on our merry way haha! So to wrap this all up the work definitely has it's high points and some lower ones but this truly is the most important and special work on the earth today. It is the most amazing feeling to find, teach, and baptize those who are ready and prepared to receive this gospel! Have a good week everybody! Here are some pictures from the past little while!
