"The Garden Spot on the Mission"

"Hillsboro: The garden spot of the mission"

What's up yall this week has been a wild one! So buckle up and get ready to hear some INSANE stories and miracles!

Jose Luis and his family are PROGRESSING! We had an amazing lesson with him and really emphasized the importance of reading the BOM and baptism. He was very receptive and he knows that this is the right direction he wants his life to go!

This last week we met an amazing FAMILY! Ivan, Veronica, and Gustavo are all so willing to learn from us! After meeting them the first time we dropped by and they immediately invited us in and we had an amazing discussion about their lives and how this gospel truly can and will change their lives! The spirit was so strong and we can't wait to keep working with them!

Yahir and Estrella are a younger couple we found that just had a baby and they are THE BEST. It had been a little while since we had been able to meet them after our first contact but one day we caught them coming out of their apartment and they said they had time for a short message! We went right into the doctrine of Christ and the blessings of baptism and they were so receptive! They were straight up asking questions like, "if I already got baptized as a baby could I be baptized again"  "Where do you guys have your baptisms" "When are your church meetings" They are honest seekers of truth who want to learn more and we can't wait to see the gospel continue to change their lives!

This week we met a younger kid named Abi who is so ready to learn! We talked to him in the parking lot of an apartment complex and set a time to come back. When we did we met his older brother who said, "Yea my little brother was talking about you guys and he seemed so excited to meet you guys!" Then we had our first full lesson with him and although he is young and some of these concepts are hard to understand he said he overall felt good and during the lesson he had the biggest smile on his face!

Angel is so so so close to getting baptized but sadly he got covid a few days before his scheduled date! We hadn't been able to make contact with him for a while but we finally decided to show up on the doorstep and see how he was doing! He said he was feeling great and he was still excited about getting baptized. We might be in a time crunch because he could be leaving to California this weekend to live with his mom for the start of the school year but we set a date for this upcoming Friday the 6th! PLEASE PRAY FOR ANGEL!

Eric is still doing amazing and progressing! He invited us to dinner with his whole family so that we could teach them what we were teaching him! He is so awesome and we can't wait to help him and his entire family progress towards baptism!

It has been an amazing week and there is a lot on the line right now for so many of these people! Everyone is so close and so willing but the adversary is always working hard to make these people doubt and fall away. Please pray for these people and that they can make the decision to be baptized! I know and I have seen the blessings and joys this gospel can bring and I want it for everyone I teach! Alma described it best when recounting his conversion story to his son Helaman when he said, "And oh, what joy, and what marvelous light I did behold; yea, my soul was filled with joy as exceeding as was my pain! Yea, I say unto you, my son, that there could be nothing so exquisite and so bitter as were my pains. Yea, and again I say unto you, my son, that on the other hand, there can be nothing so exquisite and sweet as was my joy" (Alma 36: 20-21). The joys of repentance and baptism are the greatest things we as missionaries can offer to people and it is the greatest gift to be able to teach that from the heart every day!
